Palisades Village Tree Lighting Unites Community Amid Reconstruction

Annual tradition continues as residents gather for festive celebration

On Saturday evening, the heart of Pacific Palisades came alive as families and friends gathered for the annual Christmas tree lighting at Palisades Village.

Despite ongoing reconstruction efforts following the devastating Palisades Fire earlier this year, the event drew thousands, underscoring the community's resilience and unity.

The festivities commenced at 4 p.m., featuring family-friendly activities, live music, and seasonal refreshments.

Children delighted in ornament making, face painting, and balloon twisting, while adults enjoyed hot cocoa and treats from local vendors.

At the center of the celebration stood a majestic 50-foot white fir, adorned with 3,000 twinkling lights and over 1,500 ornaments.

Hand-selected from the Mt. Shasta region, the tree symbolized hope and renewal for the community.

At 5:30 p.m., Santa Claus made a grand entrance, leading the countdown to the tree lighting.

As the lights illuminated the night sky, a gentle snowfall enveloped the village, adding a touch of winter magic to the Southern California evening.

Developer Rick Caruso, whose company Caruso Property hosted the event, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the importance of maintaining traditions during challenging times.

"Christmas is about new beginnings, hope, and goodwill," Caruso remarked.

"This community needed a way to come together and celebrate."

The event also highlighted the ongoing reconstruction of Palisades Village, which is slated to reopen in 2026.

The revitalized village will feature returning tenants, new dining options, and expanded community spaces.

Luxury fashion retailer elysewalker has confirmed plans to reopen its flagship store within the revamped complex, reaffirming its commitment to the neighborhood.

Residents expressed gratitude for the event, viewing it as a beacon of hope and a testament to the community's strength.

"It's heartwarming to see everyone come together," said longtime resident Maria Thompson.

"This tree lighting is more than just a tradition; it's a symbol of our resilience."

The evening concluded with a communal sing-along of "White Christmas," led by local musician Jimmy Dunne and joined by school choirs and The Jason McGee Choir.

The harmonious voices echoed through the village, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of community spirit and anticipation for the future.
